A Team of Culturally Responsive, Trauma‑Informed, Faith‑Sensitive Clinicians Serving Ottawa & Ontario

Luminary Hope Counselling & Wellness Services was created with a simple but powerful vision:

to offer therapy that honours the emotional, cultural, and spiritual realities of immigrants, newcomers, racialized communities, and families navigating complex transitions.

We are a team of clinicians — psychotherapists, educators, and community‑rooted practitioners — who share a commitment to culturally grounded, trauma‑informed, anti‑oppressive, and faith‑sensitive care.

Together, we support individuals, couples, families, children, and youth across Ottawa and Ontario through online and in‑person therapy.

Here, you don’t have to explain your culture.

You don’t have to hide your faith.

You don’t have to minimize your story.

You can bring your whole self.

Our story

Healing That Honours Culture, Faith, Identity & Community

Luminary Hope was founded by Berline Foadjo Awoume, a psychotherapist, neuroscientist, educator, and first‑generation immigrant whose life has been shaped by displacement, resilience, and the quiet strength required to rebuild in unfamiliar places.

After years of working in clinical, academic, and community settings, Berline saw a gap in the mental health system — a gap where culture, faith, identity, and intergenerational experiences were missing from the therapeutic conversation.

Luminary Hope was created to fill that gap.

Today, Luminary Hope is no longer a solo practice — it is a collective of clinicians who share a unified mission:

to provide therapy that sees the whole person: mind, body, culture, community, and spirit.

Our Approach

The LHC Framework:

Survival → Alignment → Wholeness

Our work is guided by the LHC Framework, developed by our founder to reflect the emotional journey many immigrants, racialized clients, and high‑functioning adults experience.

SURVIVAL — “I’m functioning, but I’m not at peace.”

Clients often arrive carrying hyper‑responsibility, cultural pressure, trauma, or emotional exhaustion. We begin with safety, grounding, and understanding.

ALIGNMENT — “My inner world and outer life are starting to match.”

Clients gain clarity about their emotions, patterns, identity, and relationships. We focus on coherence, emotional literacy, and relational repair.

WHOLENESS — “I am no longer just surviving — I am living.”

Clients cultivate resilience, confidence, and meaning. We support long‑term healing, integration, and grounded living.

This framework shapes how our entire team practices — ensuring consistency, depth, and cultural resonance across all clinicians.
